Rebirth of the Maize God

Maize is life, the blood that flows from the veins of the earth.

Acrylic on canvas

“Rebirth of the Maize God” finds its inspiration in maize, the sacred food and vital essence of Mesoamerican civilizations. For the Mayan culture, maize was not only sustenance for the body, but also the spiritual origin of humanity, represented in the figure of the Maize God: a young Mayan symbol of fertility, abundance, and renewal. The work evokes the constant rebirth of life through the earth. Maize appears as a living force, an ancestral energy that sprouts from the depths of the soil and rises towards the light, as if it were the blood running through the veins of the earth itself. In this painting, the Maize God symbolizes the sacred connection between human beings and nature, between food and spirit. His presence represents the continuity of the cycles of life, death, and rebirth that sustain existence.
