A Gesture

“The red petals of the rose unfold like a secret of the earth, revealing in each curve the caress of a silent desire, a gesture of sexuality born in the silence of nature.” Salvador Espriu

Acrylic on canvas

“A Gesture” is born from the contemplation of a red rose, an eternal symbol of love, passion, and delicacy. Its multiple petals gently unfold like a flowing, romantic, and sensual gown, enveloping the flower in a dance of shapes and textures that evoke femininity and emotion. The work finds beauty not only in the intensity of the rose, but also in the subtlety of its fine green sepals, which silently embrace and protect it. Within this delicate detail resides the true gesture: an act of care, protection, and love that requires no words to exist. The painting represents the sensitivity of small, invisible acts—those that sustain the beauty and fragility of life. The rose appears as a metaphor for the human soul, both intense and vulnerable, while the sepals symbolize the discreet presence of that which shelters us.
